Marilyn Manson on the upcoming Californication… Woot?

Hank - Californication promo

So I’ve recently started watching Californication from the beginning (I got up to season 4 previously, but never got back on the bandwagon after the hiatus… also, this is why I’ve been absent fro so long) and despite being thoroughly disgusted with myself and every character on that show, I find that I still can’t help but watch. It’s like staring into the male psyche and seeing how they really wish they could live. I think the only saving grace to the show is that the main character is never truly happy, so I feel like he’s getting his come-uppins. While I don’t think it’s one of the best shows on TV, i do find it entertaining and plays on my lingering crush of Mulder from the X-Files.

The only reason I’m bringing the show up is because as I was watching the preview for next week I noticed one of my teenage heroes, Marilyn Manson, will be guest starring (season 6, episode 5). Now I do have to state that I have had no love for him past my 20th birthday, but it is nice to see a childhood hero pop up now and again in my adult life just to kinda see how they’ve been keeping themselves. It’s like seeing people from highschool who used to be popular and are fat, divorced or crazy now… so I’m a little excited. Considering I was fans of both X-Files and Manson at the same time, next week’s episode should be like a weird flashback to a weirder time for me. WOOT!

October 19th has officially come and gone

AND ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD

There are finally new episodes of Community! I was so excited that I watched it in what little amounts loaded up on the website at a time, then watched it again all over again, then watched it again the next morning. I still love it. I still love it so much. I am just so happy I’m getting a little more of it. Even better? Due to NBC pushing the air date back from October to February, the episodes just happened to line up so that the Halloween episode aired on Valentines Day. Allowing me to enjoy my favourite holiday on my least favourite holiday! Not because I’m a scary man-hating feminist, I just hate forced gift-giving and the idea that love is reserved for special occasions. I also have to say that the Halloween special was quite good, even by the “high” standards I judge the show on… 😉

So in conclusion, yay. Yay to new Community. 😀

Canadian comedy plants a new SEED

In my endless search for worthwhile television, I have stumbled upon a new comedy that split my sides in two. It is only two episodes in, and I hope it continues to deliver as well as it has so far, but I have to say that it is rare that I get so hooked so fast. The big kicker? IT’S CANADIAN!! I have seen Corner Gas, and Dan for Mayor, and those shows have a certain “way too Canadian” dryness to them that I appreciate but this new one is fast, quick-witted and a little more horrible than I’m used to seeing out of Canadian TV.

I am talking about SEED.

Starring a few people who look vaguely familiar but I cannot place for the life of me, it’s about a typical single man who lied about his sperm bank profile and who’s “children” track him down. The parents who payed for these children don’t necessarily appreciate their kids wanting to get to know their donor father (and are sure to state it whenever possible) but allow it to keep their kids happy.

Now while that sounds like a bit of a silly storyline I found that the quick-wittedness of the dialogue and stupidity of the main character, not to mention some of the excellent one-liners it has, reminds me of a mix of Community, The League and Modern Family. AND IT’S CANADIAN!!! I still can’t get over that part…

And all was right with the world!

I’m going to keep this short, because I’m balls tired, but MAN I got in some good TV tonight.

Gossip Girl had a twist I didn’t expect.

How I Met Your Mother was actually kinda good (although, has anyone else noticed that Lilly has gotten kinda really whiny since the whole baby thing?).

And 2 Broke Girls was cute as usual. I love the new eye candy addition (Ryan Hansen) too. 😉

So maybe it was because I’m feeling a little better from being sick, or maybe it was that TV land got its act together, but I don’t care. I was entertained.
